Zarzamora Street Pedestrian Crossings
The San Antonio Transportation Department will be making pedestrian improvements to Zarzamora Street using funds from the Safe Streets for All (SS4A) grant. The improvements include the installation of eight signalized crosswalks between Fredericksburg Road and SW Military Drive. Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons (PHBs) will be installed at intersections without traffic signals and mid-block areas with a documented severe crash history.
Crossing Locations:
- Magnolia Avenue
- Wavely Avenue
- Delgado Street
- Between W. Travis Street and W. Houston Street
- El Paso Street
- Hazel Street
- Between W. Gerald Avenue and Wagner Avenue
- Between Sas Drive and SW Military Drive
Select locations will also include landscape improvements at adjacent corners where space allows.

The project is currently in the design phase and is expected to continue through September 2026. Construction is anticipated to begin in Summer 2027.
